Child and Adolescent Assessments

Child and Adolescent Psychological Evaluations are a vital first step in diagnosing a mental or developmental disorder. At Strive, we identify a vast array of psychological conditions that may interfere with mental wellness, including those that manifest during a child’s development. In addition to our mental health screenings, we provide Autism, ADHD, Psychoeducational, Developmental Delay, and Dyslexia evaluations. These evaluations typically take about 2 hours to ensure a correct diagnosis, which is vital in defining a patient’s condition and treatment planning. Additionally, we have the ability to assess children as young as 2 years of age, helping parents set their children up for success as early as possible.

Autism Evaluation

We provide autism evaluations for adults and children alike as a part of our services. These evaluations typically include one or more of the following: clinical interviews, developmental history, intelligence testing, assessment of adaptive/daily living skills, behavioral/social skills assessment, evaluation of verbal and nonverbal communication competencies, and the screening of motor skills.
Upon completion of these tests, a psychologist will create a report with details for the patient. In the case of a child or adolescent, our child psychologists will work in tandem with their family to create a care plan, and outline the family’s next steps. In this way, the child will have access to the accommodations and treatments that can help them learn and grow.

ADHD Screening and Comprehensive Evaluation

ADHD screenings typically consist of clinical interviews, developmental history, behavior rating scales, executive functioning assessment, and social-emotional assessment. After the initial screening, a psychologist puts together a brief profile for patients. ADHD evaluations include all the tests in the screening, as well as abbreviated intelligence testing, basic achievement screening, and memory and processing screening. These take longer than the initial round of tests, and once completed, will include a full writeup from the psychologist.

Comprehensive Psychoeducational Evaluation

A complete psychoeducational evaluation looks into a child's strengths, weaknesses, learning styles, and areas for growth. A psychologist then creates a report with details regarding these aspects of a child’s psychology, and how best to account for them. Recognizing these qualities can help set a child up for success, in both the realm of education and in life.

Developmental Delay Evaluation

Developmental delay evaluations typically include a clinical interview with a guardian. A psychologist will then analyze the patient’s developmental history, perform intelligence testing, assess adaptive and social skills, and screen the patient’s motor skills. After the evaluation is completed, parents will receive a report from the psychologist with their findings. The psychologist will then help parents develop a plan to best support their child in the case of a developmental delay.

Upon completion of this evaluation, a psychologist creates a report for parents or family with action steps to help their child succeed.
